SXSW Sydney, Destination NSW and FOMA (Fabrics of Modern Australia) invite you to the Official Opening Ceremony of SXSW Sydney 2025.
Join us for a powerful Smoking Ceremony followed by the iconic FOMA Runway Presentation, spotlighting eight visionary Australian designers from First Nations and diverse cultural backgrounds. This special evening marks the beginning of SXSW Sydney 2025 and is hosted by SXSW Sydney Head of Conference, Fenella Kernebone.
Monday 13 October, 4:45pm–8pm | Tumbalong Park
Start your SXSW Sydney week the right way — with great people and even better conversations. The Tech & Innovation Opening Party, presented by Accenture, is your chance to catch up with fellow innovators, entrepreneurs, and tech leaders in a relaxed setting right after conference sessions wrap for the day. Think of it as your extended happy hour to kick off the week.
Monday 13 October, 5pm-7pm | Fratelli Fresh Darling Park
When the credits roll on our Opening Night film, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, the celebration is only just beginning. Join us Monday night as we kick off SXSW Sydney with a party built for dancing in the dark, drinks flowing and a dance floor that will not quit. It is the perfect way to start the week, loud, joyful and pure Springsteen spirit.
Primary access will be given from 9:00pm to 9:45pm for Platinum and Screen Pro Passholders. Secondary access (Games, Music and Tech Passes) will be given from 9:45pm based on capacity.
Monday 13 October, 9pm-Midnight | The Abercrombie
We’re turning up the volume to kick off the SXSW Sydney Music Festival!
Connect with artists, industry, and international guests as we celebrate incredible emerging talent with live performances from Drifting Clouds (Australia – Electronic & Indie R&B), Suichu Spica (Japan – Indie Rock, Math Rock, Emo, Alternative), and the Sydney debut of 2charm.
While you’re here, be among the first to sip and savour the new Johnnie Walker Black Ruby Blackberry & Soda — a bold twist on a classic, perfectly crafted for nights like this.

Tuesday 14 October, 6pm-10pm | The Underground Sydney - Johnnie Walker Black Ruby House.
Midweek, the Platinum Party transforms The Old Clare Hotel into an exclusive playground for networking and celebration. Spread across The Old Clare Bar and Rooftop, the night includes canapés, two complimentary drinks, and a curated line-up of music from SXSW Sydney Music Festival artists. The full artist line-up will be announced soon.
