Esper Satellites Takes the Top Spot at the SXSW Sydney Pitch Grand Final

October 17, 2025

Friday’s SXSW Sydney Pitch Grand Final brought together some of Australia’s most exciting startups. From climate tech and AI to biotech, entertainment and beyond, the energy in the room was electric.

Hosted by Adam Spencer and Bronte Campbell, and judged by an exceptional panel including Lars Rasmussen, Bill Tai, Kim Jackson and Naomi Simson, the competition showcased the depth of creativity and ambition driving Australia’s innovation scene.

After an afternoon of inspiring pitches, Esper Satellites (VIC) claimed the top spot with their next-generation Earth observation sensors. As the winner, Esper now gets to choose where they’ll take their innovation next — pitching on the global stage at SXSW in Austin or SXSW London in 2026.

Honourable mentions went to CLUTCH Glue, Rainstick and Springboards, recognised for their originality, impact and potential to shape the future of their industries.

This year’s finalists, who won their respective rounds on Wednesday, reflected the incredible diversity of innovation across the country:

Health, Biotech and Medtech: Elita Genetics (VIC) with Australia’s first stem cell bank for pets

Future of Work and Education: PONND (NSW), a next-gen professional networking platform with dynamic, intent-led discovery

Entertainment, Games and Media: Gradcut (NSW), an AI-powered instant graduation video creator

Future of Retail and Commerce: CLUTCH Glue (NSW), the first skin-safe adhesive for fashion
