SXSW Sydney Pitch returns in 2024 for its second edition to showcase some of the global startup ecosystem's most exciting, innovative and cutting-edge technology!
The theme for SXSW Sydney Pitch 2024 is ‘What’s Next’, reflecting the coming wave of technologies and the aspiration to seek solutions to some of the most pressing issues facing our world today.
As the countdown begins for this year's event, we're rewinding to take a look at some of last year's success stories. Following their pitch at SXSW Sydney 2023, a number of exciting startups went on to receive funding, expand to new territories and land significant sponsorships.
Taking out the main prize was Melbourne-based medical robotics startup NanoCube Health, who went on to take the global stage at SXSW Austin’s Pitch Award Ceremony earlier this year.
“The inaugural SXSW Sydney was incredible. I'm still pinching myself that NanoCube Health won the pitch event. It provided an opportunity to bring our humble, early-stage startup to a global stage and to start building relationships with key players in the US ecosystem, which will be critical for our future global expansion plans. I'd strongly recommend other startups to apply for the 2024 pitch event. You won't regret it!” – Director of NanoCube Health, Lisa Milani
It has been fabulous to follow the progress of our 2023 SXSW Sydney Pitch Finalists. Not only has our 2023 winner, Nanocube recently pitched on stage at SXSW Austin, but has been part of an inspiring mini-series created by Dell and Startup Daily focused on their journey.
In addition to this, 4 of our 2023 finalists have received funding, including Ideally who raised $2million, Bandicoot Imaging Sciences who raised $1million, Stori who raised $500K (and rebranded as Nucanon) and Metakosmos receiving a $250K grant.
Three of our finalists have expanded internationally including Foodini who has expanded to the US and already secured clients in the region, Green Gravity commencing energy storage in Romania and Space Machines Company signing a deal with NewSpace India.
There have been other major partnerships and news including Spiral Blue’s technology being used in a recent space mission in Florida, Green Gravity using Nvidia Omniverse and Metakosmos collaborating with Saudi firm Al-Sanai. It was also great to see co-founder of In-Confidence Dr Helena Franco making the Forbes Asia 30 under 30 list in the Healthcare and Science category.
This year at SXSW Sydney you will be able to see some of our 2023 Pitch alumni presenting in our Pitch Alumni Hour and will get to hear more about how some of these companies are progressing. We look forward to continuing to follow their journey and can’t wait to see which startups will reach the 2024 SXSW Sydney Pitch finals and pitch onstage in October.
The next update on SXSW Sydney Pitch finalists will become available in mid-September.
