SXSW SYDNEY® DROPS ITS SCREEN FESTIVAL HEADLINERS

September 8, 2025

Monday 8 September – South by Southwest Sydney® (SXSW Sydney) has dropped its Screen Festival Headliners with Scott Cooper’s Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, a biopic about the making of Bruce Springsteen's deeply personal 1982 album, “Nebraska," set to kick off the festival as the Opening Night film. Starring Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen, the film explores Springsteen's creative process, his complex relationship with his father, and his experience with depression in the early1980s.

Joining the Headliner line-up at the Festival from 13-19 October in Sydney, will be Universal Pictures and Blumhouse’s Black Phone 2, with Ethan Hawke returning to the most sinister role of his career as the Grabber; direct from its world premiere at SXSW, Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie, a time-traveling cult comedy starring Canadian creators Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol; Cannes Film Festival darling Die My Love, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Robert Pattinson and Nick Nolte; Yorgos Lanthimos’ hot Oscar-contender Bugonia, a gory black comedy that reunites the director with Oscar® winner Emma Stone and Oscar® nominee Jesse Plemons; and If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, featuring a monumental performance from Rose Byrne as a mother on the edge.

Every session in the SXSWS ydney 2025 Screen Festival is open to anyone with a Platinum Pass, Pro Pass or Screen Wristband, granting unlimited access to screenings during the event.
